Geometa Lab / GISTech
The Geometa Lab offers applied research and development, consulting and courses in the applied geospatial domain. The Geometa Lab is part of the Institute for Software (IFS) connected to the Department of Computer Science (Bachelor) and the Master Research Unit «Software & Systems». The University of Applied Sciences Rapperswil (HSR) is a member of the Universities of Applied Sciences of Eastern Switzerland (FHO).
Applied research and development
In the Geometa Lab, modern software technology (software engineering, agile methods) is linked with geoscientific applications. Mostly with (but not only!) Technologies such as open source based on Java, JavaScript, Python, C / C ++.
This includes the following areas:
✓ Innovative applications, including mobile applications and web applications (mobility & traffic, handicapped, weather, leisure). Crowdsourced technologies such as Open Government Data (OGD) and Open Data (OpenStreetMap)
✓ Crowdsourced technologies such as Open Government Data (OGD) and Open Data (OpenStreetMap)
✓ Databases, information retrieval, algorithms and geolocation ✓ Data visualization and visual geocomputing (including image analysis)
✓ Management and geoprocessing of massive geospatial data

Geometa Lab Team
The Geometa Lab was founded in 2000 by the current director, Prof. Keller. It is part of and supports the ICA-OSGeo Labs initiative "Geo For All" since January 2014.
