Research project
The pipetting robots are equipped with modern sensors that detect when a pipette touches the underlying liquid.
The IMES has developed such a Liquid Level Detection (LLD) sensor for Tecan. Using capacitive measurement technology, a cost-effective yet reliable and fast-operating LLD method was realized, which can further enhance the performance of future pipettors. An improvement over previous solutions is that closely adjacent pipettes do not interfere with each other. Additionally, smaller volumes of liquid can be detected than before.
